Andreas Reihse originally comes from Düsseldorf but has made a name for himself in Berlin and the world. For over 25 years now, his band Kreidler have become an institution for electronic music, transcending a number of genres from spoken word poetry to dub, from electronic pop to post rock, from IDM to ambient. Their music can also be heard on soundtracks as well as notably well produced music videos.
As a solo artist Reihse releases mostly electronic, often club-music. He is also a renowned composer and performer of music for artists – for films, for plays, for performances, and for installations: among his collaborators are Rosemarie Trockel, Hamish Morrow, Thea Djordjadze, Giles Round, Andreas Gursky, Frances Scholz/ Mark von Schlegell, Mike Franz/ Nadim Vardag, or Leiko Ikemura.
Recent activities include the video/sound installation Volkan (Stromboli, 2014), Entropie OST with Isaac B.Trogdon (2015), The General Line – a performative series with Redmond Entwistle; ongoing projects with Benjamin Walther – like installation pieces, film music, or theatre plays Prometheus Nu (Copenhagen, 2015), Ich bin die Beute (Jena, 2018) and in 2020 Der Rest (Hof), or performances e.g. with dancers Sigal Zouk, or Tillmann Becker. A series of performative projects with Fette Sans (since 2018), also with Stephanie Stein and Marcus Steinweg. In 2018 he premiered two surround sound pieces at Berlinale with Mohamed A. Gawad, and Dalia Neis – with the latter he co-operates since 2012; they run a show at NTS radio, produced another surround audio piece that premiered 2020 at Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen; on Deis’ label Wanda he released in 2018 a cassette with author Seda Mimaroğlu. Also in 2018 Reihse co-curated the album Karl Marx 200!, and performed with p≡p cooperation and Sibylle Berg at re:publica#18. In 2019, Periode, the musical outfit of Thomas Winkler and Andreas Reihse, released three vinyl EPs and performed live. 2020 Reihse taught at Shared Campus Summer School for ZHdK, and with Zaza Rusadze won the MuVi Award at Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen.
Latest works with Kreidler include 2+2=22 [The Alphabet] (2017) a full length film by Heinz Emigholz, about the recording for the album ABC in 2015 in Tbilisi/Georgia, and the soundtrack for his new film The Last City (2020). In 2019 the album Mosaik 2014 was re-issued, expanded with a surround audio installation; the band collaborated with opera singer Asmik Grigorian for a show at Elbphilharmonie Hamburg – hosted by Thea Djordjadze and Rosemarie Trockel; and in October  2019 the album Flood was released.
Besides Andreas Reihse draws comics, writes for several media outlets and occasions about pop, art, and politics, rides horses, and co-runs MOVES and PERIODE.SITE.
